ABOUT ME

How can we know ourselves more fully?

I find there's a lot of complexity to life in our times. We encounter a challenging array of shifting internal and external experiences and have to find a way to make sense of them for ourselves at pace, if life is to feel tenable. We have often not inherited many good maps for this territory and can struggle to know how to draw them for ourselves.  Technology has also upped the stakes, offering confusing and sometimes false signals that can lead us to places that ultimately do not feel aligned with who we truly know ourselves to be.  While all this is frustrating -- and often painful to experience -- I believe it can also ultimately be a catalyst for our growth as human beings.  We can feel prompted to find a better way: become more aware of our feelings, thoughts and behaviours and develop the ability to tolerate the uncertainty and discomfort of the challenging aspects enough to steadily work through them. In time we can come to accept ourselves more fully and grow from where we are, consciously choosing our direction, rather than feeling passive to a life imposed on us from the outside. There's no one way to start this process, but I believe we are each exploring a version of this. I will never know your particular journey --- that is sacred to you and I believe it is for you to have the joy and satisfaction of discovering yourself --- but I hope to support you in that discovery by bringing a flexible, creative mindset, some psychological expertise and an open heart to this work with you.

I’ve practiced meditation since a young age, which serves as a foundation and resource in my approach to therapy because it helps me to develop my own capacity to observe and become more aware of the patterns of thought and behaviour I experience personally, and feel more connected to my deepest, authentic sense of self. I find I'm then able to be more present for you in our sessions together.

Extensive travel, life and business experience have also informed my journey. After 15 years in organisations helping teams to navigate change, I realised my passion lay in supporting individuals through personal change, which led me to pursue an MA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy and start this work.

I am a registered member of the BACP and have worked in both NHS settings and private practice, offering therapy to a range of people aged 16 to 80, who each started out from, and now live, love and view life in a range of unique ways.
